This session will provide the attendee with important state of the art information about fueling the body for optimal function and performance and avoiding the pitfalls of the Athlete Triad in both women and men. This session will address in detail the energetic needs of exercising women and men and explain how to avoid the Athlete Triad and will highlight factors important for recovery.

  • Summarize the importance of meeting the energetic needs of exercise and the body at rest and be aware of the dangerous cascade that occurs when there is an energy deficit and the Athlete Triad ensues
  • Describe the pathways that affect energetic factors, menstrual function and bone health
  • Identify pathways to recovery for energetic factors, menstrual function and bone health
